It is very important that you always have a contract before you set out on a job. The contract should set out your agreed fee, where you will be working,
and contact phone numbers at the very least. Being clear about arrangements helps both you and your client.
If you are working through an agent they should confirm the job by sending you a contract but if you have been approached directly you may need
to draw up a contract to confirm the booking yourself. A verbal contract is considered to be binding but more difficult to enforce and it is very useful
to have the booking address etc in writing.
There is a sample contract text that you can use or adapt below.
You will need to delete or replace all the red text. Print off two copies and sign them and send them to the person making the booking, ask them to complete the contract by signing both, and return one copy to you. You may want to take a deposit at this stage to confirm the booking.
If you haven't got public liability insurance delete the last of the 'Terms and Conditions', or if you have in excess of £2m, alter it. You should consider your position very carefully if you are working without insurance as a serious claim could be very expensive.
